JUDGE PORTER, CIVIL NON-JURY TRIAL CALENDAR

The following cases will be tried during a three 3 -week period beginning August 1, 2023. There will be a Zoom calendar call/pre-trial conference on July 25, 2023 at 11:30 a.m., attorneys appearing must be the attorneys trying the case or another attorney of record authorized to define the issues and enter into stipulations. Cases may not be called in the order they are published. All cases will remain on two-hour notice. This is a continuing calendar; all cases that are not reached will be carried over to the next calendar and every calendar thereafter until they are reached. All parties should be prepared to argue their pre-trial motions and motions in limine virtually on July 25, 2023, at the conclusion of the calendar call. It shall be the responsibility of the Plaintiff's Attorney or Pro Se Plaintiff to contact Booker "Chip" Washington, Staff Attorney, at [email protected] no later than 4:00 p.m. on July 18, 2023, advising the expected length of trial and the necessary telephone numbers of parties involved and whether a court report will be needed. Please review the calendar and inform the Staff Attorney of any corrections needed to the names of parties and associated counsel that will appear for the call of the calendar.If you are a Plaintiff, a failure to report or appear at the calendar call will result in your case being DISMISSED FOR WANT OF PROSECUTION. If you are a Defendant, failure to report or appear at the calendar call shall result in the entry of a default judgment. In addition, if Defendant fails to appear, Plaintiff shall be allowed to present evidence of damages and a final judgment shall be entered as to damages. If the Defendant has a counterclaim, failure to report or appear at the calendar call will result in your counterclaim being dismissed for want of prosecution.If your case is called to trial and you are not ready to proceed, your case will be DISMISSED FOR WANT OF PROSECUTION.There will be no continuances granted except for statutory grounds. All conflicts and requests for continuances must be in writing and in this office by July 18, 2023. If a case is removed from this calendar, it will be placed on INACTIVE STATUS for ninety 90 days and must be restipulated to a calendar in writing. Dress appropriately: NO SHORTS, NO HATS, and NO HALTER TOPS AND NO PRINTED T-SHIRTS.PLEASE DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL CHAMBERS TO FIND OUT WHEN YOUR CASE IS GOING OUT.
